Songs From the British Isles  New!

Gramola, Vienna, 2009

Quadriga Consort – the Early Music Band on an expedition to the roots of pop music: ancient ballads and tunes from the British Isles, ranging from lively dance music to Gaelic songs and English court culture. These archaic melodies provide the foundation for Quadriga’s unique arrangements and interpretations, which sound fresher than some pop songs of our time. In five years Nikolaus Newerkla has arranged over 200 pieces for the ensemble, of which 21 were chosen by the musicians themselves for a special ‘best of’ concert in Freistadt/Austria on January 5th, 2009.

The recording made on that evening has been released on CD under the title ‘Songs from the British Isles’ and provides the unique opportunity to experience the much lauded stage presence, strength and vitality of the Early Music Band in the comfort of your own home.

(This concert is also available on DVD.)
